Covina Center for the Performing Arts
The Covina Center for the Performing Arts, slated to launch our inaugural season in Fall 2005, will be the cultural hub of the community and new home of Stage Arts Repertory. Dedicated to presenting a range of quality theater productions, our state-of-the-art facilities will also enable us to explore opportunities to further enrich the region's cultural life with possible guest performances by musical artists, dance troupes and other performing arts. CCPA will nurture appreciation and enjoyment of the creative arts in the San Gabriel Valley, as we lead the continuing cultural revitalization and preservation of Covina's historic downtown.

Educational Programs
Covina Center for the Performing Arts is committed to bringing the highest level of theatrical education to the children of the San Gabriel Valley and surrounding areas.  Through the highest level of performance-based instruction, free or low cost performances, unique backstage tours, internships /apprenticeships, and support for classroom teachers, Covina Center for the Performing Arts is dedicated to promoting the performing arts and to being a positive, active influence in creating our next generation of performers, designers, and arts administrators, as well theatre enthusiasts and future patrons.

Community-Minded Leadership

The Covina Center for the Performing Arts began in the hearts of longtime Covina residents Chris and Retha Champion. Loving both the arts and the community they call home, the Champions saw past the faded facade of the old Covina Theater. They imagined how the historic site, the former Covina Valley Playhouse, could be transformed into both a more fitting home for the local Center Stage Repertory and a center for a broader cultural renaissance in Covina. To fulfill their vision, the Champions purchased the theater building in 2001. The Champion Family Foundation, founded in 2000, has provided crucial financial support to the nascent nonprofit endeavor. Since then, they have been joined by civic leaders, business owners and generous community members who share and support their vision and love for the arts, theater and Covina, itself.
